Competitors shoot in one of two divisions based on the power plant of the gun they are using. If a question arises about the division a competitor will shoot in, the Match Director will always have the final say.
PCP Division
Any precharged pneumatic/PCP airgun, any sight
Piston Division
Any piston/spring gun, any sight.
Hunter Division
See Hunter Rules for airgun requirements. The major gun requirement is a scope of no more than 12X power (or a zoom set to no more than 12X).
Additional Classes
The match director may provide additional classes in either or both of the two divisions. These classes are generally based on restrictions to equipment usage or target types. Classes are generally only offered if there are enough shooters to justify them. Examples of classed within a division could be A & B, or Standard & Unlimited. Match Directors should determine the specifics of any classes they wish to make available at a particular match and outline them in the match announcement when possible.
Team Competitions
It is customary to include a club/state team prize at the U.S. Championship match each year. The team should consist of five shooters who are regular attending members of a club in that state. The team score should be comprised of the top four scores of the five shooters on the team with the lowest score being dropped.
